AutoCamp Asheville Opens

AutoCamp has officially opened its first Southeast location in Asheville, North Carolina. The property welcomed its first guests in March 2026. It was delayed by Hurricane Helene’s devastating impact on the region in 2024.

Set on 16 acres along the French Broad River and just a short drive from the city, AutoCamp Asheville is positioned as the ideal basecamp for weekends hiking the Blue Ridge Mountains or day trips into Great Smoky Mountains National Park, the country’s most visited national park.

AutoCamp Asheville Opens: Accommodations

The property features 67 accommodations, including

The Bambi is a new addition to the AutoCamp lineup. It’s not new to Airstream. In fact, it’s been around many years, and you can go buy one yourself, unlike the AutoCamp 31′ Custom Airstream.

There are no tents at AutoCamp Asheville. We suspect because there are many black bear in the area.

It appears AutoCamp is using the Bambi 20 Foot model. It will be interesting to see if there are customizations to the AutoCamp Bambi – and if it starts showing up at the other AutoCamp locations.

AutoCamp Asheville Opens: The Clubhouse, Kitchen & Amenities

As is the case with the bother 7 locations currently open, AutoCamp Asheville’s centerpiece is a 5,000-square-foot Clubhouse featuring dining concept The Kitchen and a general store offering the very expensive grill kits and s’mores kits, along with trail-ready snacks and local beer and wine. Some of the local Asheville products include Poppy Popcorn, Asheville Pretzels, and Sunshine Sammies, plus local beers. Remember our pro-tips to avoid the high prices in the store.

This is where AutoCamp shines: the amenities! Additional amenities include an all-seasons plunge pool, gathering and meeting space, and a slate of programming ranging from complimentary onsite yoga and live music to indoor movie nights, arts and crafts workshops, and family-friendly game nights. Guests can also sign up for guided adventures through local vendors, from mountain biking to brewery tours. Of every AutoCamp we’ve visited, hands down, AutoCamp Russian River (now renamed AutoCamp Sonoma?!) had the best amenities like amazing wine tastings!

One thing AutoCamp gets beat up for: the $35/daily resort fee. The daily resort charge pays for weekly onsite events, coffee and tea, granola for breakfast, use of bicycles, pool towels, lawn and board games, an outdoor kids’ play area, Wi-Fi, and onsite parking including EV charging. When you look at that list, it takes the sting out of the resort fee; however, why not just role it into the price?

AutoCamp Asheville Opens: What to See & Do in the Asheville Area

AutoCamp’s riverside location puts guests within easy reach of everything that makes Asheville one of the most beloved destinations in the American South — from its world-class arts scene and legendary brewery district to some of the most dramatic mountain scenery on the East Coast. Personally, we’ll be hitting up the hiking trails and breweries. We’ve already been to the Biltmore in the past, and this time, we’ll have our dog with us, so we need to do pup-friendly things like hiking and drinking beer. 🙂

The Blue Ridge Parkway & Mountain Trails. Known as “America’s favorite scenic drive,” the Blue Ridge Parkway is a 469-mile road that passes right through Asheville, serving as a gateway to outdoor adventure. Ambitious hikers can explore trails throughout the surrounding national forests, including Pisgah and Nantahala. The most determined can take on Mount Mitchell, the highest peak east of the Mississippi at 6,684 feet, via trails ranging from strenuous to moderate.

Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Just a short drive from AutoCamp’s front door, Great Smoky Mountains is the country’s most visited national park, offering year-round hiking, wildlife viewing, and some of the most biodiverse landscapes in North America.

The Biltmore Estate. Known as “America’s Largest Home,” the Biltmore Estate is a stunning mansion built by George Vanderbilt in the late 1800s. The 8,000-acre estate encompasses Biltmore Village, the Biltmore Winery (which offers free tastings and is the most visited winery in America), a working farm, and extensive landscaped gardens.

The River Arts District & Downtown. Along the riverbank of the French Broad, the River Arts District is home to former industrial warehouses filled with hundreds of working artist studios, where visitors can watch live demos, browse galleries, and get hands-on with interactive programs. The neighborhood also houses some of Asheville’s most popular restaurants and breweries.

Beer City USA. Asheville has earned its reputation as “Beer City USA” with the highest number of breweries per capita in the nation. The city boasts over 30 breweries within city limits, with dozens more in surrounding areas — from traditional lagers to experimental sours and barrel-aged specialties. The walkable South Slope brewery district is a short drive from AutoCamp’s riverfront grounds.

The French Broad River. The river running right alongside AutoCamp is an adventure in its own right. Guests can float, kayak, or raft down the French Broad River, or simply relax along its banks after a day in the mountains.

AutoCamp Asheville Opens: How to Book it

Booking AutoCamp Asheville Through AutoCamp.com

We’re choosing the least expensive custom Airstream, not the Bambi.

$751.74 with the 25% current promo.

Booking AutoCamp Asheville Through Hilton

AutoCamp Asheville is bookable through Hilton’s reservation system and the Hilton Honors app as part of an exclusive partnership between the two brands. Hilton Honors members can earn and redeem points for stays while enjoying on-property benefits such as a complimentary bundle of firewood, a s’mores kit, and space-available upgrades for Diamond elite status members.

As of April 10, 2026, the best rate is $210 a night for a 3 night stay in late April for a regular Airstream – not an upgraded location. The catch: you have to pay in full, and it’s not refundable. If you want the refundable option, it’s the same as booking directly through AutoCamp, above.

IMPORTANT!!! Only Hilton is offering this 30% off deal. However, it’s non-refundable and must be paid up front.

Asheville Hilton Prices

The total will be

AutoCamp Asheville Hilton Rate

However, you can book through third parties such as Booking.com or, if you have an American Express card, the AMEX Travel Portal. What do those prices look like for the same dates?

Booking AutoCamp Asheville Through Booking.com

Booking.com pricing. This is a HOT MESS:

AutoCamp Asheville Booking.com 1

What’s a Bambi? A 31′ Airstream? An X Suite?
Whey are they charging for breakfast that is free and included with your resort fee?!

From what we can tell:

  • the “Queen Room Disability Access” is the X Suite. There are no accessible Airstreams.
  • the “Double or Twin with Extra Bed” is 160 square feet (think 10 x 16 little room) must be the Bambi.
  • Queen Suites listed at 240 sq feet are likely the Classic Airsteams.
  • what in the world is 200 sq feet? I don’t know. (eyeroll)

This is a mess, really, but it’s Booking’s fault, not AutoCamp’s. We think! Taking a guess, trying for an apples-to-apples comparison, we’re going to guess that 2nd option is the equivalent. What’s nice: you do not pay ahead, and you have a 1 week grace period to cancel.

The total price would be $746.49. IF you were to choose to book through Booking.com, be sure to use either Chase Sapphire Preferred for 2x the points or a Chase Sapphire Reserve for 3x the points.

AutoCamp Asheville Booking.com Rate

That’s about $35 more than booking through Hilton, but you do get that 1 week cancelation option and also get to pay later.

Booking AutoCamp Asheville Though the AMEX Travel Portal

How about the Amex Portal?

First, AMEX does in fact correctly label the accommodations with the AutoCamp names. So, when we clicked SELECT HOTEL, we saw this was the Bambi Rate. Instead, we picked our lowest level Classic Airstream, and we found this:

AutoCamp Asheville AMEX Travel 2

Nice rate, right?
Slow your roll…

AutoCamp Asheville AMEX Travel 3

Well, it’s either $822.48 for non-refundable/cancelable, OR you can pay $857.48 to get that 1 week cancelation.

It’s more money, no doubt, but at least you’d earn 5x the points on your American Express Platinum purchase for a sweet point redemption of around 4,000 points, which are worth up to $200 if you play the points game well.

AutoCamp Asheville Opens: Conclusion

So, it looks like the best bet for the lowest price is to book directly through Hilton. Again, we recommend the American Express Platinum card. You’ll get Gold Status, which will qualify you for free upgrades for better position in the camp. Plus, you’ll get a $300 credit twice a year on two night bookings. We love this card, and yes, that’s a referral link.

We will be visiting AutoCamp Asheville later in the month, April 2026. We’ll do a full review of the facilities including reviewing every campsite location. We’ll also be doing some hiking and visiting breweries. Stay tuned!
