AutoCamp Asheville – Sneak Peak

AutoCamp Asheville will be opening “mid-2023,” and we have a sneak peak of the location and what to expect.

AutoCamp Asheville Location, Airstreams, X Suites

AutoCamp Asheville will be located at the former campground of French Broad River Campground, which was sold when the owners retired.

The French Broad River Campground – and the new AutoCamp Asheville – is located at 1030 Old Marshall Hwy, Asheville, NC 28804.

There is very conflicting information regarding what will be available for lodging.

• 16 luxury custom Airstream campers
• 6 X suites
• a clubhouse that will feature a bar.
• There is no word yet about tents, but considering AutoCamp Asheville is located near Mount Pisgah, they may not have tents due to a large and active bear population.

At 12.46 acres, AutoCamp Asheville would be the second smallest AutoCamp location, second only to AutoCamp Russian River at 3 acres. However, AutoCamp Russian River hosts 35 camping spots, but the early press on AutoCamp Asheville is that it will host only 26 camping locations between custom Airstreams and X Suites.

There is no word yet about tents, but considering AutoCamp Asheville is located near Mount Pisgah, they may not have tents due to a large and active bear population.

However, shorttermrentalz.com has a very different take on what will be offered. They say there will be 67 accommodations, comprised of:

51 luxury custom Airstream campers
4 BaseCamps
6 X suites
6 Bambi Airstreams standalone
4 Airstream Bambis that will be paired with a tent to make a Basecamp Suite

Obviously, one of them is very wrong. Twenty-two seems extremely low, but 67 seems very high for only 12.46 acres.
We’ll report back and update as we learn more.

Second Smallest AutoCamp Property

At 12.46 acres, AutoCamp Asheville will be the second smallest AutoCamp location, second only to AutoCamp Russian River at 3 acres. However, AutoCamp Russian River hosts 35 camping spots, but the early press on AutoCamp Asheville is that it will host only 26 camping locations between custom Airstreams and X Suites. That’s a huge difference in density! If this holds true, the Asheville location may be the least dense of the AutoCamp locations. Being right on the river will make it potentially the most scenic, as well.

We look forward to visiting AutoCamp Asheville. We have visited Asheville and absolutely love the Biltmore Estate and Grove Park Inn along with the fantastic craft brewery scene in Asheville. The Blue Ridge Parkway is gorgeous. We don’t know if we’ll make it in 2023. Right now, we’re planning our cross country trip to visit AutoCamp Joshua Tree and Russian River in California and the new AutoCamp Zion property that should be opening early 2023. Once we get past this big trip, we’ll focus on which AutoCamps will be next!
