AutoCamp Has a Flooding Problem
AutoCamp has a flooding problem, and we can’t ignore it any longer.
- Asheville now has NO opening date – it may never open.
- AutoCamp Hill Country (Texas) is painfully near the catastrophic flooding on the Guadalupe River.
- AutoCamp Napa is having trouble getting approval because of flooding concerns.
- AutoCamp Russian River, AutoCamp Zion, AutoCamp Yosemite, and AutoCamp Sequoia are all on or near rivers.
AutoCamp Catskills, AutoCamp Cape Cod, and AutoCamp Joshua Tree are the only properties that are not near or on rivers.
Let’s break it down…
AutoCamp Has a Flooding Problem: Asheville
They’re not opening. It was scheduled for September 1. Even their calendar still says September 1, but if you try to book, there is nothing available.
A month or so ago, the calendar was blocked out through the end of the year. Now? It’s blocked out for eternity.

Remember, Asheville had horrific, catastrophic flooding with a hurricane. Supposedly, all the AutoCamp Airstreams and campers were moved out of the flood zone. They were working to open in September 2025, but now – just 2 months prior to opening there is “no opening date in sight.”

We hear from friends local to Asheville that Asheville is still “very rough” with the damage from the hurricane. We don’t see why this would delay the opening – especially so close to opening.
The Airstreams and cabins are on wheels. AutoCamp very well may move them to another location. Are they fully giving up on Asheville?

Every cabin and Airstream is on wheels.
AutoCamp Has a Flooding Problem: Hill Country (Texas)
The news the past few days from Texas Hill Country has been absolutely horrific. On July 4, 2025, 12-15 inches of rain fell in just a few hours, causing a 20 foot wall of water to sweep through central Texas. As we write, over 80 people were killed, and over a dozen are missing. The worst of the damage was in Kerrville, Texas.
AutoCamp’s location is in Fredericksburg, Texas, near the Pedernales River, 30 minutes north west of the horrific flooding in Kerrville. There is also terrible flooding on the Pedernales River.

The location of AutoCamp Hill Country is on property that has historically been very wet. However, it is several miles north of the Pedernales, but there are creeks very nearby.
AutoCamp Has a Flooding Problem: AutoCamp Napa
AutoCamp Napa has not yet been approved. There has been strong opposition to the Napa, California location, in part due to the worries about flooding.

AutoCamp Has a Flooding Problem: Russian River, Zion, Yosemite, and Sequoia Locations
AutoCamp Russian River . . . you guessed it, is very near the Russian River. A creek runs through the back of the property

AutoCamp Zion is ON the Virgin River.

AutoCamp Yosemite is 6 miles from the Merced River. This shouldn’t be an immediate flooding issue, but it would certainly impact the entire surrounding area if the river were to flood.
AutoCamp Sequoia is located in Three Rivers, CA. Yup, it’s on 3 rivers!

Safe From Flooding: Cape Cod, Catskills, Joshua Tree
- While AutoCamp Cape Cod is near a marsh that leads to the ocean, there is no real flooding concern here.
- AutoCamp Catskills is miles from the nearest river.
- AutoCamp Joshua tree is, perhaps, the property with the least flooding concerns, as it is literally in a desert.
AutoCamp Has a Flooding Problem: Conclusion
Given the Asheville and Hill Country situations, AutoCamp has seriously got to be looking at their selection of future site locations. What happened in Asheville was beyond horrible, and thank goodness, no one was occupying the property yet. Same for Hill Country. We’d hate to think about a campground full of visitors in either of these floods.
