AutoCamp News and Rumors April 2026
Well, we’ve been quiet here at AutoCampReviews.com for a few months, but we’re constantly keeping an eye on things, and there are some very interesting AutoCamp news and rumors for us to share.
AutoCamp News and Rumors: AutoCamp Sonoma?
Well, it appears AutoCamp Russian River has been rebranded. It is now called AutoCamp Sonoma.

In one regard, this is surprising. Why? AutoCamp Russian River was the first AutoCamp location to open. It has, by far, the longest history and name recognition. It’s hard to walk away from that kind of history and marketing value.
So why do it? Because everyone knows the two big wine regions in California are Sonoma Napa. Yup, Napa. Remember our articles about AutoCamp Napa? It’s not dead yet, and we think this is why AutoCamp is making news by taking the very bold step of re-branding its flagship location.
AutoCamp News and Rumors: AutoCamp Napa?
Yeah, so in spite of the very strong opposition by Napa locals, we’re hearing that AutoCamp is confident they will be able to open AutoCamp Napa. Will it be in the exact location they intially proposed? Yet to be seen. After all, we know they have already endured horrible flooding issues at both AutoCamp Asheville and AutoCamp Hill Country. Given the 2 year delay in opening AutoCamp Asheville because of the flooding, perhaps AutoCamp is becoming concerned about river locations. It’ll be interesting to see if they stick with the initial property or move on from it.

AutoCamp News and Rumors: Hill COuntry?
Which leads us to another piece of information we’ve heard: AutoCamp Hill Country may never open. It was initially announced in 2022, scheduled to open in 2023. Really, we’ve covered this extensively.
While it was already 2 years late to open, an absolutely horrific flood hit Texas Hill Country, killing many young women at a camp.
Of course, we’re keeping an eye on this to see if the location should disappear off the AutoCamp.com website. Maybe we’ll be pleasantly surprised and it will open. We were looking forward to visiting Austin and Hill Country, a first for us.
AutoCamp News and Rumors: Grand Canyon?
So let’s end with some good news. We’re hearing that AutoCamp is close to securing a property near the Grand Canyon. We’ve shared with you AutoCamp’s attempt to purchase not one but two different properties, only to run into major problems that prohibited them from developing either one.
The first property was located outside the Grand Canyon in Williams, Arizona. The land is 160 acres that was most recently for sale for $3,499,900 located at 581 Cooper Ranch Road, Williams, AZ. AutoCamp wanted to change the zoning, and it seems that project died on the vine.
The second property was next to Canyon Coaster Adventure Park. The objections focused around access to the property, which could be problematic in emergency situations such as fire, when people need to evacuate quickly. Unlike the objections at the first location – or in Napa – there is also some community support and buy-in, so it is possible that this might be the location for a future AutoCamp.
AutoCamp News and Rumors
As always, we’ve got our ears to the ground, the screen, and more. We’ll stay on top of all these rumors plus we’ll be visiting AutoCamp Asheville very soon for our review. Stay tuned!
