AutoCamp Reviews African Safari Glamping TriP
Say WHAAAATT?! Yes, AutoCamp Reviews is heading out on an African Safari!
Wait – weren’t you going to AutoCamp Yosemite and AutoCamp Sequoia? Yup, we’re doing that, too – just 2 weeks after we return from Africa. Hey, we’ll rest when we’re dead, right?!
We are going to be exploring some seriously luxurious glamping while in Africa, and we’ll share some of the details here – and we’ll be posting to our Instagram and Facebook pages while we’re on the trip.
African Safari Itinerary: Zambia
We booked this trip through Piper and Heath over a year ago, and we are setting out later this week to finally take this trip of a lifetime!
With the help of Piper and Heath, we will be visiting Zambia for our first stop. On the Zambezi River, we chose this stop because it is near one of the largest waterfalls in the world, Victoria Falls.
In addition to visiting Victoria Falls, we will be going on game drives to see impalas, zebras, giraffes, hippos, wildebeest, crocodiles, elephants, buffalo and rhinos.
We will be staying at Sussi & Chuma – a tree house lodge! Talk about GLAMPING!

Check out the full gallery to see this luxurious glamping lodge on the Zambezi River, just 7 miles from Victoria Falls. We can’t wait to get into that pool that overlooks the Zambezi River!

African Safari Itinerary: Botswana – Chobe National Park
From Zambia, we head to our first of two stops in Botswana, Chobe National Park. Chobe National Park is an excellent location for an African Safari. Renowned for its large elephant herds, there are also countless buffalo, elegant antelope, giraffe, hippo, amazing birdlife and predators such as lion, cheetah and hyena.
We will be staying at Chobe Chilwero, another small, glamping lodge. Check out the full gallery. There is a full spa and pool – our kind of glamping!

African Safari Itinerary: Botswana -Okavango Delta
The Okavango Delta is the world’s largest inland river delta, located in the Kalahari Desert of Botswana, Africa. It’s a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its incredible biodiversity.
To get to our final camp, we will be taking a single engine “light aircraft” by Mack Air that only holds 12 people. It will need to land on a dirt airstrip!

We will see elephants, lions, leopards, giraffes, and rhinos in addition to “water” animals such as hippos, crocodiles, and special antelope like the red lechwe and sitatunga.
We will be staying in a TENT at Stanley’s Camp. This is without a doubt a glamping tent with one exception: there is no air conditioning. Day time highs will be 100+. Not going to lie – we’re a little anxious about this! But our tent will have an ensuite bathroom with shower.

Stanley’s Camp comprises just 10 authentic safari tents, each with a private deck with magnificent views over the glimmering floodplain and its unending pageant of wildlife. Though the feel is traditional, the details are contemporary – and spoiling. Canvas, linen, leather and timber provide the richly textured background for subtle artisanal touches such as locally woven basket lights and original artwork. These classic safari style tents have well-stocked minibars and coffee stations, king-size beds with high-thread-count linens and mosquito netting, ensuite bathrooms with double vanities and rain showers, and private decks perfect for daydreaming, wildlife-spotting and, on special occasions, outdoor dining.

We’re thinking with this location and these amenities, we’ll be just fine.
African Safari Itinerary: Cape town
We end our trip in Cape Town. We’re staying at the 5 star Belmond Mount Nelson – no glamping involved in this stop! Just luxury! However, there will still be amazing wildlife and scenery photos, so follow along!
AFrican Safari Glamping Trip: Conclusion
Be sure to follow along on our Instagram and Facebook pages while we’re on the trip. We’ll be posting amazing glamping photos, but truly, more importantly, amazing WILDLIFE photos!
