AutoCamp Reviews and News Visits All 7 AutoCamp Locations – How it started
Back in July 2022, we visited our first AutoCamp – AutoCamp Cape Cod. What drew us there?
First, there is the love of Airstreams. I’ve always marveled at the engineering, craftsmanship, and ingenuity of Airstreams. I had not quite given up on owning one, at that point. However, we spend half the year at our home in New Jersey (late fall through mid-spring) and the other half on Cape Cod (late spring through late October). So, it wasn’t practical to think I could also make good use of an Airstream.
Then, articles started to catch my attention about these campgrounds that had Airstreams on site. There were clubhouses, fun events – and there was one right on Cape Cod! How convenient was that. Icing on the cake: they not only “allowed” dogs, but welcomed them! Perfection! So, we decided we’d take a trip to the other end of the Cape (almost 2 hours away for those who don’t know how big Cape Cod is!), for a few night trip.
Talk about dog friendly! Our pup, Rory had her own welcome letter and treats and a list of fun places she could take us while we visited! Wow, were we impressed and off to a great start.

However, to be honest, it wasn’t all sunshine and roses. Why? Well, the Airstreams were different…really different from the Airstreams I had been touring at Airstream dealers like the amazing Colonial Airstream in New Jersey – or the ones I’d been perusing on social media.
So, while sitting by the fire pit and enjoying the patio, the fire pit, the tables and chairs, I gave it some hard thought. People like me needed to know about the differences to set their expectations! Had I realized what the differences were, I probably wouldn’t have been disappointed on day 1.
By day 2, it hit me: let’s do a website and review AutoCamp. We’ll travel to them all (places we have been to and loved or would love to go) – and stay at them all. FUN, right?
So, our first article was written without me even realizing what I was doing: an article explaining the difference between the custom AutoCamp Airstream and the commercially available Airstreams.
Little did we know that within just over three years we will have achieved an ambitious goal: we would visit all 7 AutoCamp Locations!
AutoCamp Reviews and News Visits All 7 AutoCamp Locations – How it Evolved
Shortly after naming our site AutoCamp Reviews, we realized we really wanted to cover news, too. Hence the add on to our name. It turns out, we LOVE to cover AutoCamp news. We like to learn about the business, and it’s very interesting and fun to learn about the industry, competition, and also AutoCamp’s plans for new properties.
We covered the problems at AutoCamp Cape Cod very extensively. We felt badly for AutoCamp Cape Cod – our “home” camp. We sure hope they were able to sue whoever put their initial septic system in because it must have given them horrible stress and expense to deal with a faulty septic system near a very delicate, highly protected body of water.
We also have followed AutoCamp’s attempts to expand.
First, they very ambitiously announced FOUR new properties in email and an Instagram post on July 26, 2022, when they announced there would be 4 new locations opened in 2023. What followed was something we couldn’t imagine – not one of them opened on time.
AutoCamp Reviews and News Visits All 7 AutoCamp Locations – What’s Next?
So what happens next? We’ve been to them all, so what will we do?
We travel to lots of places, not just AutoCamp. Two weeks before visiting AutoCamp Sequoia and Yosemite, we were in Africa! We have MUCH more to write about the Africa trip. Africa is glamping heaven!
We will continue to cover all AutoCamp news. We have some tidbits we picked up along the way to share … soon … regarding both AutoCamp Hill Country and AutoCamp Asheville. NEITHER has opened yet. One of them might never … we’ll share that soon. BUT there are other potential locations like Napa and Grand Canyon that might be back on the table.
Also, we can easily see ourselves back at Yosemite. We had a wonderful “big picture” trip of the park, and now we’re eager to hike.
Oh – another topic: suggestions for new locations! We think an AutoCamp near Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area would be an absolutely perfect location. We live near there. The hiking and river sports can’t be beat.
Next spring, we’ll be in Italy, Germany – and then we’ll do another (mostly) cross country drive to Colorado, up to Yellowstone and maybe even Glacier National Park!
You get the picture. We love to travel, we love the outdoors, and we do love AutoCamp. Sure, we sometimes have to call out issues we see, but we wouldn’t be spending our time or money visiting the locations if we didn’t love it, overall. One of the best parts about AutoCamp – the people. Their staff at each location is amazing (though, Catskills was a weak link). Everyone is friendly and helpful. Hats off to those hiring and training!
So – keep following us, even though we have visited all 7 AutoCamp locations, there is much more to come!
In fact, here is a sneak peak of the upcoming articles:
- Pre-Black Friday and Black Friday Specials – might be 2 articles!
- AutoCamp Sequoia Video Tour and review of every lodging location
- AutoCamp Yosemite Video Tour and review of every lodging location
- Food and shopping near AutoCamp Sequoia
- Food and shopping near AutoCamp Yosemite
- Tidbits we learned about not-yet-opened-locations
- Changes and inconsistencies we’re noticing from camp to camp
Be patient. I’ve got to take care of a shoulder issue, so it’ll be a bit before the next batch of articles, but stick with me!
Here’s a picture from that very first trip to AutoCamp Cape Cod!
