We had the pleasure of staying at an X Suite at AutoCamp Catskills in early November, 2022, and we think the X Suite is a fantastic lodging option at AutoCamp.
We published a News post 4 Reasons to Choose the AutoCamp X Suite at the time of booking. Having now stayed in an X Suite, I can say there are 3 MORE Reasons to Choose the AutoCamp X Suite.
Note: we stayed in an ADA accessible AutoCamp X Suite, which is essentially a tiny house. A really beautiful tiny house!
Let’s take a good look around!
Outside the AUtoCamp X Stream
Let’s have a good look at the outside of the X Suite. You’ll see that, like the Airstream, it’s on a moveable frame with wheels and a hitch. We found it to be very stable.
We were in an ADA accessible X Suite, so there was a ramp.
Front view. The window is frosted and in the bathroom. Note the split system compressor.
Left side view (from rear). Note the fire pit is on the rear side of the ramp entrance (which would be steps for a non-ADA compliant unit).
Rear view. Panoramic windows with power shades. We had gorgeous views behind our X Suite! Note the lights in the overhang.
These lights were fantastic! And when we didn’t want them, we just turned them off. Note: the switch for these lights is by the front door, NOT in the bedroom.
This is the right side view, from the rear. Note the lack of windows. It works just fine in the X Suite, as opposed to the Custom Airstreams, where the lack of windows really hurts. The reason for the lack of windows is that it affords privacy to the next unit, whose picnic table and fire pit are in between their unit and this one. The one window is in the living room. Note the electric service is also on this side. It is hidden behind a wooden panel to keep it looking nice for the neighbors. Also note the wheels. Again, this was trailered in and can be trailered out!
I love this view of our neighboring X Suite!
Inside the AutoCamp X Stream
Let’s have a look inside the beautiful AutoCamp X Stream.
This is a long view from the bathroom to the bedroom. You’ll see the front – and only – door immediately to the left. When you enter, the kitchen is directly in front of you and the bathroom to your right. This is where the photo was taken. It looks past the kitchen and living room into the bedroom.
This is the X Suite kitchen. It might look small here, but there is everything you need!
Have a detailed look at what is included in the X Suite kitchen in this video:
Check out the big screen TV in the living room! What? You aren’t going to watch TV? What if it’s 19 degrees out? Gusting to 20 and you can’t have a fire pit? Snowing? Raining? You’re welcome.
I guess you think you’re not going to sleep, either? Yeah, check out this gorgeous bedroom! And the mattress and linens are fantastic!
Important ADA accessibility point: I had specifically asked, when I called AutoCamp’s phone number to book the room, if the right side of the bed was up against the wall. The answer was no. In fact, the person on the phone went on to say there are nightstands on both sides. I thought, GREAT. They must have made a wise change and hadn’t updated the photos on the website. NOPE. There was no nightstand. While it looks like we should be able to move the bed, we did, but in no way was that side of the bed accessible.
And once you’re in the bedroom, you’re in for awesome storage because you’re not going to want to leave. The big cabinet on the left is not only chock-full of storage, but there are 2 fluffy robes and 2 snack tracks for when you want to eat in front of the TV when the weather is lousy and you’re thanking me you booked an X Suite. Those hooks on the right come in super handy for both those fluffy robes but also your coats in colder weather.
This is a view back from the bedroom towards the bathroom. This 275 square feet of luxury and comfort is fantastic. We loved our X Suite!
Videos
This is my full walkthrough of the X Suite. As you can see, it’s spacious, well appointed, and is very comfortable for a longer stay, thanks to the kitchen and living room TV.
AutoCamp provides really great kitchen essentials in both their Airstreams and X Suites:
- 2 refillable water bottles (and there is a place to refill them in the clubhouse)
- scissor
- bottle/can opener
- wine opener
- pen
- locally sourced coffee for your French press (and they leave little creamers in the fridge, too!)
- sugar and sugar substitutes
- tea
- salt and pepper

AutoCamp X Suite Review: Recommended!
As you can see, the X Suite is a fantastic option when staying at AutoCamp. We know everyone is charmed by the sexy Airstream, but given the weather, time of year, number of people in your group, and comforts such as TV in living area and the volume of the heat/ac, the X Suite should seriously be considered as a great rival of the Airstreams. You will still have the awesome fire pits, chairs, and tables for outdoor dining.
We will be staying in an X Suite again in March during our California AutoCamp roadtrip, and we’ll report back on a non-ADA accessible X Suite at that time.
