AutoCamp Sequoia Early Reviews

Well, we wanted to get to AutoCamp Sequoia this spring, but instead, we ended up in Aruba and Scotland! So, we’ll take a look at the AutoCamp Sequoia Early Reviews submitted by others.

AutoCamp Sequoia Early Reviews: Hilton and TripAdvisor

As we’ve covered, AutoCamp has partnered with Hilton to utilize their booking system, including now the ability to earn and use Hilton points.

Hilton, unfortunately, does not use their own rating system. They “pull” from TripAdvisor, but it seems it’s not the most up-to-date. So, be heads-up if you’re relying on ratings on the Hilton site. We’ll cover the AutoCamp Sequoia early reviews from both Hilton and TripAdvisor together.

As you can see, Hilton is pulling 5 ratings, yet TripAdvisor has 6. Not many, and when there are low ones with that few, it hurts the average.

Let’s look at those reviews.

Spoiler alert:

THE REVIEWS ON THE HILTON SITE PRE-DATE THE OPENING OF AUTOCAMP SEQUOIA BY 4 YEARS. In fact, they are for the previous campground that no longer exists. AutoCamp purchased the location!

First, you have to know you can’t trust the Hilton site!

And now that that is established, let’s look at those actual reviews on TripAdvisor.

She didn’t even stay? We were at Zion last spring. Yup, super hot during the day. Yup, they are aluminum “cans.” Our a/c was AWESOME. 2 units – one in the bedroom, one in the main kitchen/”living room” area. Both were fantastic. We stayed in until we were ready to hit the pool. Why wouldn’t you stay? She needs to learn how to use the air conditioning! Of course they charged “full fare”. This was on you, Girlretired.

This sounds like a legit complaint. We did have this happen to us once, at an established location. However, for the most part, our cabin or Airstream has been available to use prior to the 4 pm check in. We agree, it’s not cool if it’s not available by 4. We also agree, if they offer a refund, it should not have to be chased. Keep in mind, this was within weeks of startup. Should this become persistent – and we bet it doesn’t – then it’s a legit issue.

Angharad W – this is interesting since they seemed to have stayed at and liked Yosemite.

Fair enough to compare one AutoCamp location to another. However, remember, Yosemite has been around, while Sequoia was BRAND new! As we experienced in both Joshua Tree and Zion – new locations = new vegetation and growth. Russian River has mature growth. It’s the oldest AutoCamp. Be aware, be fair.

Stability: ALL the Airstreams we have been in have been on the platforms they were delivered on. They are on chassis with wheels and license plates. If it were “unstable,” it’s because the ground underneath was not level. This is possible. AutoCamp will need to address this. We have experienced this – not at AutoCamp – and it is disconcerting.

AutoCamp Promotion – Great Rates! Amenity fee. They all charge it now, whether it’s baked in, or not.

AutoCamp Sequoia Early Reviews: Yelp

Again, there are not many reviews from Yelp, but we’re going to focus on a few items.

We agree – the food is microwaved, and this lack of a proper “restaurant” is a huge negative of ALL the AutoCamp locations. Not everyone likes to cook over a fire, as we do, for every meal!

Yes, the mini-fridges are RIDICULOUSLY small. We have learned to either bring or buy a cheap styrofoam cooler. We need to add this to our Pro Tips.

Another “room not ready.” Not good! However, keep in mind, this was super early on after the opening. Hopefully, this does not persist!

Yup, it gets dusty, the nature of rv-ing. The showers are fantastic!

100% great advice – get your firewood, food, booze, water, s’mores, and much more OFF SITE! See our Pro Tips.

AutoCamp Sequoia Early Reviews: Google

We’re focusing on the negative reviews. Why? Because we know what there is to love. We’re looking to see if the negatives are “legit” or picky or not even accurate. There are 3 on Google. Overall rating, 4.2. Very respectable. So what are the negatives?

Google AutoCamp Sequoia Reviews 1

YES, we LOVE there are no vehicles allowed! Keep them in the parking lot. It’s safer, quieter, and classier!

AutoCamp offers free wagons to move your things. If you need help, they’ll help and transport you with a golf cart.

We do agree the gravel is noisy and dusty. But it’s also water permeable and better for the environment.

Unheated pool – hopefully just start up issues. Again, they’ve barely just opened.

Bryan was generous about the food. We think it’s just microwaved and poor!

No argument – it’s tight. However, the design of the cabins and Airstreams helps. They have windows up high so that no one looks out next to them to see their neighbors. It’s a clever design.

This is what is seen by the neighbors. The Airstreams and cabins were designed to maximize privacy between units, but yes, they are close together.

More “room not ready” and slow maintenance issues. This is inexcusable, and AutoCamp needs to test each unit and resolve issues before opening.

The food. No argument. See above.

We have covered the lack of indoor cooking extensively!

And yeah – AutoCamp is super popular on Instagram, and like everything on Instagram, people post what’s pretty, not always real.

There is iconic photo of AutoCamp can make people very, very disillusioned upon arrival:

AutoCamp deceptive photo

That’s not what you’re getting, folks. This is reality:

We think AutoCamp does itself a great disservice by not owning up to the actual layout of their campgrounds. That’s one of the reasons we spend so much time evaluating each and every camp site at each location. You need to know where you’re going to be! Once we got our heads around this – we are in a tight campground, not isolated in nature – it became easier to enjoy what there is rather than what there isn’t.

AutoCamp Sequoia Early Reviews: Booking.com

Currently, there are 8 reviews on Booking.com for a score of 7.7. That’s just below the 8.0 filter and threshold of what many people search for.

There’s a complaint about the a/c being loud. Yup, it’s a camper with overhead a/c. It works, though! There was a complaint about the heat not working and the person at the desk not getting it fixed. Inexcusable. However, AutoCamp REALLY needs to make the heat and a/c easier to use. When you need graphics and videos to teach people how to use it, it’s too complicated.

Another person complained, “I booked a base camp suite… which comes with two bedrooms…” There is no such thing at AutoCamp. Basecamps are a TENT and an Airstream. People really do need to pay attention to what they are signing up for.

AutoCamp Sequoia Early Reviews: Conclusion

All in all, we’re not surprised by the reviews. People don’t pay attention. However, there is clearly room for improvement from AutoCamp:

  • customer service – be attentive to problems and get them resolved quickly!
  • timeliness – have those rooms ready on time or earlier; customers LOVE early check in as a bonus!
  • food quality – time to get real food, AutoCamp; bring in food trucks!
  • heat and a/c – these need to be effective and easy to use

Because we’re busy traveling to Aruba, Scotland – and our upcoming trip to Africa – we’ve had to push off AutoCamp Yosemite and AutoCamp Sequoia to 2026, but we will still be getting to AutoCamp Asheville this year! Stay tuned!
