Campsites Location Review
Be sure to read and see our review of every single campsite location at AutoCamp Sequoia!
Finally, yes, we’re getting to our AutoCamp Sequoia Review of Campsite Locations! We posted our AutoCamp Sequoia Review of the property overall a while back, after our visit.
We are going to break the property into sections to review each and every Airstream, Cabin (X Suite), and guest room location. There are various prices associated with locations – be sure to review our article on pricing categories – so this should help those looking to book to evaluate if the upgrades are worth the price.
Remember, AutoCampReviews.com is independent of AutoCamp. We are unbiased and share our honest reviews.

What is NOT on this map is the playground! We’re addressing that right here before we jump into the sections.
See the “beach”? It’s immediately to the left, just outside campsite 401, which you will NOT want unless you have little kids. Even then, you might not want your kids awakened by other little kids.
AutoCamp Sequoia Review of Campsite Locations: Section 1, The Roaring Kaweah River
Ok, to start off, we’re going to look at the section ALL the way to the right on the map. These are the “100” numbered accommodations. The ones on the right side are right along the Kaweah River.

The river location is very nice. You back up to not only the river but to greenery. Anything on the river is as private as it gets at AutoCamp, but some locations are better than others.
For Section 1, locations 101, 103, 105, 107, 109, 111, and 113 are back-to-back with the row of 200s. Not ideal if you want privacy, especially 101 and 103, which are very near the clubhouse and pool.
104 – 112 are your best bet for privacy (with 108, 110, and 112 being the best bet).
NOTE 1: the river is loud here! If you don’t like a loud river, this is not for you. For most people, they’ll love it.
Note 2: 114 is VERY near the Ponderosa lawn. There could be lots of kids and families playing along with weddings and events!
AutoCamp Sequoia Review of Campsite Locations: Section 2, Landlocked

Section 2 is landlocked.
202, 204, 206, 208, 210, 212, 214, and 216 will have campers and cabins both in front of them and behind them. 216 is very close to the Ponderosa lawn – which can be noisy or beautiful and peaceful. It’s a roll of the dice.
205, 207, 209, 211, 213, 215, and 217 face the firepit, the pool, and the bathhouse, as you can see. 205, 207, and 209 could be very noisy from the pool. 217 has that Ponderosa Lawn concern.
AutoCamp Sequoia Review of Campsite Locations: Section 3, A Mixed Bag
Section 3 is shaped oddly. It’s by the meeting space . . . the pool . . . the guestrooms/bunkhouses . . . AND YET, probably the best deal at AutoCamp Sequoia is in the 300s.

309 is a great location without paying the top price.
As you can see, 302 – 304 are quite close to the pool. The meeting house wouldn’t be an issue (think sad business people stuck inside looking at PowerPoints, watching the clock until they can get outdoors). 301 probably has too much foot traffic.
The other 300 locations are fine enough, but 309 is definitely the winner.
AutoCamp Sequoia Review of Campsite Locations: Section 4, $$$$
Section 4 is the big bucks section – these are Premium and Vista rate locations.

Obviously, these locations are closest to the river. HOWEVER, they are not all equal.
The row closest to the river has direct river frontage. Still, they are not all equal. As we mentioned above, there is a swing set and playground immediately next to 401. You have been warned.
Those all the way to the left – 432, 434, 437, 439 – are up near a black timber wall that marks the property border. It feels “too left field” for our liking. You don’t really have much more privacy. You’re just remote.
AutoCamp Sequoia Review of Campsite Locations: Section 5, Guest Rooms or Bunkhouse

AutoCamp Sequoia has a type of lodging not available at the other locations: “Guest Rooms.” In reality, they are an old bunkhouse that is now an ordinary hotel room. However, they cost just as much as an Airstream. Honestly, we don’t know why people would pay as much for an ordinary room as what distinguishes AutoCamp from the others – the super cool custom Airstreams and awesome X Suites.

AutoCamp Sequoia Review of Campsite Locations: Conclusion
Like all AutoCamp locations, the campground is crowded. However, there is a bit more breathing room for some locations, particularly those on the river in sections 1 and 4. We personally prefer to be close to the clubhouse for convenience. We accept that the campsites are close together. It doesn’t bother us. In fact, sometimes we take an “Accessible X Suite” because we LOVE the X Suites – and the accessible ones are far cheaper than the regular ones. By default, they’re close to the clubhouse.
AutoCamp Sequoia is a terrific location, in great part because it was built on an established campground. There are MATURE trees! They’re beautiful. Funny thing: we did get pelted with acorns in October. We loved it – it felt very fall like, and no one got hurt. 🙂
We recommend either going with a Classic or going full monty and grabbing a river front “Vista” location. Enjoy your time there. It’s a special place. The staff is fantastic, and the location is beautiful. Sequoia National Park is spectacular. DO NOT MISS KINGS CANYON! It’s very different and VERY worth the visit!
