AutoCamp Sequoia Review
WE HAVE DONE IT! We visited both AutoCamp Sequoia and AutoCamp Yosemite, and we have now visited ALL AutoCamp locations! We will first give you our AutoCamp Sequoia Review, followed in a few days by our AutoCamp Yosemite Review.
We will then need some time to do a review of each and every Airstream, X Suite, and cabin location at both locations, but we have a bunch of videos to process. So, let’s begin.
AutoCamp Sequoia Review – Property Location
We discussed the location of AutoCamp Sequoia in our article on planning a trip to Sequoia National Park, Kings Canyon National Park, and Yosemite National Park. That article focuses both on trip planning and the location of each AutoCamp location.
The takeaway: AutoCamp Sequoia is not IN Sequoia National Park, nor is it the closest lodging to the park. But, most folks visiting an AutoCamp location are visiting for the super cool Airstreams, the fantastic clubhouses, the ability to have a fire pit and cook over a fire, and to participate in the fun activities at AutoCamp. That was the case for us, so for us, the location was very good.
AutoCamp Sequoia Review – Property Layout
AutoCamp Sequoia is the newest of the 7 currently open properties, having opened in March 2025. Situated on a former campground, AutoCamp Sequoia is off to a fantastic start in great part due to both a terrific staff, good location, and being on the grounds of a former campground.
Here is the entrance to AutoCamp Sequoia:

The layout of the property is excellent. Like AutoCamp Cape Cod, AutoCamp Catskills, and AutoCamp Russian River, there is a huge advantage to being on the site of another campground. Looking at the map of the grounds, above, you can see that the Airstreams, X Suites, and Bunk Rooms are well spread out into various sections. (We’ll review each and every location in another article, soon). This gives a nice feeling of there being sections or areas, and not everyone just plopped on top of each other. The mature trees – so valuable, and I mention them often – help create a very nice outdoorsy vibe in addition to providing shade – and nuts!

Note the above, in particular, the long bank of Airstreams – and a few X Suites – along the Kaweah River, both to the left and right of the “Ponderosa Lawn.” Our friends were in Airstream 112. The river behind them was rocky, making for really nice rushing water sounds. The rocks diminished, making for flat water – no running water noise – from around 489 and left. That river area is fantastic. Note, though that the Ponderosa lawn and children’s swing set are right there. For those who are noise sensitive but want the beautiful river view, avoid the units closest to the lawn and – particularly – the swing set.
AutoCamp Sequoia Review – Clubhouse
The clubhouse is a typical – beautiful – AutoCamp clubhouse. There is the store area where you can purchase fridge or frozen items to use or cook at your campsite. There’s AutoCamp merch plus bug spray, sunscreen, and other things you might need for your time outdoors. The clubhouse was built with gorgeous woods and cement, making it feel high end yet very natural. It’s a beautiful clubhouse that is only one story. It’s interesting to see the differences between the clubhouses. We do prefer the two story clubhouses, in general, the ones at Cape Cod and Yosemite.

AutoCamp Sequoia Review – Pool
The pool at AutoCamp Sequoia was heated and beautiful with very nice towels, lounge chairs, and umbrellas. There is a bathhouse that was in position from the previous campground.

AutoCamp Sequoia Review – Lodging Types
AutoCamp Sequoia has the usual custom Airstreams and X-Suites (which are called cabins at this property), along with Basecamps (Airstreams plus a big tent), and “Bunk Rooms”. Note: there are no stand-alone tents.

A few things – AutoCamp has quite a problem with what terms they use to describe their accommodations. This is not an AutoCamp Sequoia issue – it’s an AutoCamp issue. When we got to AutoCamp Yosemite, sure enough, they are still calling the X Suites just that. X Suites. For some unknown reason, AutoCamp is not using the same lodging titles universally between camps. Big mistake – it’s confusing!
The Bunk Rooms – they are only at this property, to date, and that’ll likely remain the case. Why? They came with the property, the former campground! Of course, AutoCamp refurbished them, but the buildings were not built by AutoCamp. It’s a nice alternative, but their pricing is really high – for the date we checked, they were about $100 a night MORE than the lowest Airstream.

AutoCamp Sequoia Review – The Vibe
The other benefit of being in the location of a former campground is that the property is chock full of mature trees! In fact, the oaks were dropping nuts like crazy the last week of October. We loved that.
One of the downsides of being in the location of a former campground is that the clubhouse does not have a big lawn outside like AutoCamp Cape Cod, AutoCamp Yosemite, and AutoCamp Russian River. We find those big lawns adjacent to the clubhouse make for a terrific vibe with people spilling in and out of the clubhouse and then playing games or enjoying the view of the lawn.

With regards to corporate events and weddings – two things all AutoCamp locations promote heavily – this is not the easiest or best location. Sure, you can have your wedding on the lawn by the river. But the weather better be good, and the whole campground will be watching.
The very small, rather sterile meeting spaces are another drawback. Compared to the large spaces at other AutoCamp locations, this is probably the weakest link of AutoCamp Sequoia. Also, the windows you see in the second picture (which is the building on the left) face the building on the right – no view at all.

Some of the greatest strengths of AutoCamps are their setting … the river, the mature trees, the mountains. This setting is really terrific. For those who find AutoCamp Zion and AutoCamp Joshua Tree too sparse with vegetation and exposed, they’ll love AutoCamp Sequoia.

AutoCamp Sequoia Review – Events
The events were geared to kids more than adults, including the “pumpkin patch” that isn’t on the sign but was listed on the website. It really wasn’t a patch, but a display. There was a bnous movie night, too, that was well attended by families with kids. The website and the chalkboard for AutoCamp Sequoia both listed Trivia for an activity, but it was swapped out for Bingo. We had a blast at Bingo! There was a singer the first night we were there. He was setup indoors, and the clubhouse doors were opened up so that those sitting outdoors by the heaters could hear the music. Very nice.

Dog Friendly and Kid Friendly Travel
As is always the case, AutoCamp Sequoia is super dog friendly and kid friendly. They do charge $75 to have your dogs (up to 3 days, I believe), but they don’t charge extra for kids. We think they should flip that. 😀
There were many, many dogs and quite a few children, as well. Everyone was well behaved. This has been our experience except once at another location. There’s always one, right?
We did notice there could be more trash and recycling cans – and the recycling needs to be clearly marked. Same for “Poop stations” – more needed, and marked clearly, please.
AutoCamp Sequoia Review – Conclusions
AutoCamp Sequoia is already a very popular location, and it deserves to be. The location is fantastic – near to Sequoia National Park, situated on the Kaweah River, and surrounded by big, beautiful, mature trees.
We have to particularly note that the staff at AutoCamp Sequoia was fantastic. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. Again, we had many laughs at bingo with Jonathan!
Hats off to AutoCamp for their newest location. We will note it was so very late opening up, but now that it’s here, it’s a terrific addition to the AutoCamp lineup.
Keep an eye out for our review of AutoCamp Yosemite. After that, we’ll be sharing our video walk-through of both properties. We will also be sharing news about Asheville, Hill Country, Napa, and … a new location in the works!
