AutoCamp Yosemite Review of Campsite Locations

This was a tough assignment! Maybe the toughest of ALL the AutoCamp locations. Why? AutoCamp Yosemite is huge! It was hard to create “sections,” but I based it on the order of my tour rather than the numbers of the campsite locations. In the end, I cover them all.

Watch them all. We were there in late October, and the scenery is gorgeous! You’re going to be jealous 🙂 Autumn colors, falling leaves. AutoCamp Yosemite is really beautiful! Don’t forget to re-read our AutoCamp Yosemite Review before you dive into AutoCamp Yosemite Review of Campsite Locations.

Before we get started, check out the map of the entire property. The staff at AutoCamp Yosemite was super helpful! One of them created this color-coded map for me with the pricing category of every location. Another staff member took us around the property by golf carts to help me film. Yeah – AutoCamp Yosemite is that big. This is the first of all the open locations for which I thought I might even want some transportation!

AutoCamp Yosemite Review of Campsite Locations: Section 1

We started the tour at the clubhouse and went to the immediate left, just beyond the pool. This is the section we are calling Section 1.

This section goes uphill. AutoCamp Yosemite is a very hilly property in addition to being very large.

The beginning of the section is very near the absolutely awesome clubhouse and pool along with the fire pit and lawn. It’s a terrific section as a whole. As the map is displayed for section 1, the lower section – 47 through 54a – affords maximum privacy as you only look down on the few campsites below. There is a wooded hill behind this row. It’s hilly, wooded, and about as private as it gets.

There is a small “wedding” or private party area in the woods ABOVE #55. It would be very private.

There is also a really sweet walking path just beyond #55 that loops to the north and swings around. Great for the morning dog walk!

We toured via golf cart to make it efficient.

Section 2 is slightly lower on the hill, still to the side of the clubhouse and pool. It has some of the campsites higher on the hill looking down at them.

We were in #58, and campsite #53 could look into our living room. As we mention in the video, we’ve only met the nicest people at AutoCamp, so it didn’t disturb us too much. However, it could be a concern for others as there is no covering for the “eyebrow” windows high up in the living room. The bedroom does have shades, and there is no window on that side of the Airstream in the bathroom.

Section 3 is high up and back on the property, above the vernal pond. For those who want privacy, this is the best place to be in possibly ALL the AutoCamp locations! See all the green and pink coloring? Yup – Premium and Vista pricing on these locations – with good reason. However, do note that 84a, 84, 85, and 85a do back up to the maintenance area. It is a little unsightly, but it’s private in the evenings.

How private is this area? There’s a port-a-john next to #84a for the use of tents #82a, #84a, and #85a! Remember, tents don’t have private baths, so this saves those campers a long walk to the clubhouse.

This section with #82a, and then #80 – #83 is AMAZING if you want privacy. Just remember, it comes with a big hill and also a long walk to the clubhouse, so decide what is most important to you.

Have a look at this beautiful section!

AutoCamp Yosemite Review of Campsite Locations: Section 4

Section 4 is downhill from the clubhouse. It starts with 2 accessible X Suites. Remember, the accessible X Suites are always close to the clubhouse. Then, things get odd in terms of pricing levels. We have a bunch of CLASSIC level Airstreams. Those are the cheapest. They’re the closest to the clubhouse, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Then, the whole bottom of the row is EXPLORER level. These are Airstreams #1 – #7 and #29 – #38. These are not worth paying Explorer for. Remember, Explorer is simply a Classic with an AllTrails subscription. Why pay nightly for a subscription? We love AllTrails. Just pay once directly to them and take a Classic Airstream. Watch and listen:

Our final section is what you will pass every time you enter and exit the property if you’re staying near or above the clubhouse. Therefore, you will have car traffic. EVERY Airstream in this section is an EXPLORER level. You’ll pay more every night for that AllTrails subscription you might already own. Therefore, we do not recommend these campers because of both the cars and the inflated price.

Also in this section are two Accessible X Suites and two Family Cabins. As always, Accessible X Suites will be near the clubhouse. The family cabins are much like the ones at AutoCamp Catskills – designed for larger families.

All in all, we don’t recommend this section due to the driveway traffic and the Explorer level pricing.

AutoCamp Yosemite Review of Campsite Locations: Conclusion

AutoCamp Yosemite BLEW US AWAY. Really! It’s huge, it’s beautiful. As we said in our property review, the clubhouse and pool are amazing. This property is really special. It’s the most spacious, the most hilly, the most wooded of all the AutoCamp properties. From what we see on social media, it’s very, very popular. Now we know why! #knowbeforeyougo – review the videos and read these descriptions carefully to decide what you want to pay for and balance that against where you want to be on this very large property. Let us know what you think!
