AutoCamp Yosemite Review
Visiting AutoCamp Yosemite was a very special trip for us. In addition to doing our AutoCamp Yosemite Review and finally getting to visit Yosemite National Park, this visit marked a milestone.
WE HAVE DONE IT!!! WE HAVE NOW VISITED ***ALL*** 7 AUTOCAMP LOCATIONS!

Completing our visits to all the open AutoCamps started off incredibly well when we saw this sign next to the check in desk:

We had not seen this at any other AutoCamp, and it was fantastic to see. ALL the AutoCamp locations have been diverse and welcoming, but it was super sweet to see this posted in a very prominent location between check-in and the kitchen and bar. Thank you, AutoCamp Yosemite!
Sneak peak at the conclusion of this review: this is a TERRIFIC AutoCamp, and we now understand why it’s one of the most posted on Instagram! On with the review…
AutoCamp Yosemite Review – Location

AutoCamp Yosemite to Yosemite Valley in Yosemite National Park is about an hour’s drive – with no traffic. We were super lucky. We visited the last days of October, and it was spectacular. No crowds! Great weather! There had been a foot and a half of snow the week before, so there was water in the falls.
There is only one other lodging – other than in the park itself – and it’s very near AutoCamp, so the AutoCamp location is excellent. As we discussed in our AutoCamp Sequoia Review, if you absolutely need to minimize your driving time, then stay at one of the lodges in the park (none are dog friendly, fyi. We know AutoCamp is very popular with dog families, like ours!).
AutoCamp Yosemite Review β Property Layout
Let’s talk about the layout of AutoCamp Yosemite. It is quite different from the other AutoCamp locations currently open.

You can click on the map to enlarge it.
This is a HUGE AutoCamp: 38 acres, and it’s also the hilliest of all the AutoCamp locations. We were offered – repeatedly – a golf cart ride upon check in. We didn’t need it for our location, but it would be almost necessary for most locations. Yes – it’s hilly!!!
We will be reviewing each and every lodging location in another article, soon, but because of the size and hills at this camp, we’ll make some observations here, as well. Note the clubhouse, firepit, and lawn location. Everything is relative to the clubhouse
- Everything to the right, on the map, is downhill, and it’s a sizable hill.
- Everything across the pond is up a very significant hill.
- To the left of the clubhouse – those 2 roads – starts out a gentle hill but does get steeper the farther away.
We note all this because some guests – who don’t necessarily need accessible units but might struggle with hills – should take note and be sure to mention their limitations upon booking. We were all fine, but we could see it could be very challenging for some,.
The pond: welllll, it was mostly dry and not really looking all that great. It’s more of a run-off pond than a vernal pond. Still, it added some nice ambience. Sort of.

But overall, AutoCamp Yosemite is a gorgeous property! We all absolutely loved the entire campground, and the clubhouse is stunning (see below). Enjoy these pictures of the property:

AutoCamp Yosemite Review β Clubhouse
The AutoCamp Yosemite Clubhouse is one of our favorites! We are partial to the two story clubhouses like you also see at AutoCamp Cape Cod. They are really beautiful and are super inviting for parties, weddings, and corporate events.
Like all the AutoCamp clubhouses, there is a fire pit outdoors, a fireplace indoors, a shop, a kitchen/bar, and a reception desk. They all have giant sliding glass doors to make them open air.

AutoCamp Yosemite Review β Pool
What was SUPER cool about the AutoCamp Yosemite clubhouse was that the pool is attached to the clubhouse – up a flight of stairs, making it feel like it’s on the second floor. It’s actually built into the hill. This setting makes it the coolest and most beautiful of all the AutoCamp pools.
First, have a look at the pool from the lawn. Look at that cement wall and the umbrellas up top. That’s the pool!

From inside the clubhouse – the only way to access the pool – you climb the stairs or take the elevator up.

What a gorgeous setting! Hands down, our favorite AutoCamp Pool.
AutoCamp Yosemite β Lodging Types
As you can see from our map, up top, AutoCamp Yosemite has all types of lodging options:
- Airstreams
- Tents
- Basecamps (Airstream plus a tent for larger groups)
- X Suites
- Family Cabins

We will be covering each and every lodging type and location in an article with video walkthroughs soon.
AutoCamp Yosemite Review β The Vibe
Look at those pictures, above! We absolutely looooove the vibe at AutoCamp Yosemite. The autumn leaves and falling nuts definitely contributed! It wasn’t just that – the clubhouse is awesome with that super cool “2nd story” pool. The entire campground is chock full of mature trees. Like AutoCamp Sequoia, AutoCamp Catskills, and AutoCamp Cape Cod – this location was a former campground. In fact, it was a former KOA. It had to be pretty straightforward to convert this to an AutoCamp property. (Aside: it must have been brutal pulling in campers and motorhomes – perhaps this is why KOA sold and are now looking to purchase another property!).
AutoCamp Yosemite Review β Events
Like AutoCamp Sequoia, there was a “Pumpkin Patch” (better effort than AutoCamp Sequoia), Bingo, and more. Again, we had a great time playing Bingo, but Jonathan at AutoCamp Sequoia was far more fun, and the prizes were way better! (Hi Jonathan!)
One of the reasons people choose AutoCamp is because of the clubhouses and the activities, and AutoCamp Yosemite did not disappoint.

AutoCamp Yosemite’s Event Space – for parties, weddings, and corporate events, is FANTASTIC!!! The only other property this good is AutoCamp Cape Cod. The space is located on the second floor of the clubhouse, adjacent to the pool area. There is a beautiful, large room with terrific windows, looking over the property. Plus, there is a huge outdoor deck! We were very, very impressed with the AutoCamp Yosemite Event Space!
Here is a fantastic view from above – you can see the steps down to the pool, the large outdoor deck. Inside, is a large room with big windows, wood floors, and a TV for presentations.

AutoCamp Yosemite Review β Dog Friendly and Kid Friendly Travel
As is always the case, AutoCamp Yosemite is super dog friendly and kid friendly. As we said in our AutoCamp Sequoia Review, they do charge $75 to have your dogs (up to 3 days, I believe), but they donβt charge extra for kids. We think they should flip that. π
There were many, many dogs and a few children, as well. In fact, there were more dogs than kids at this location. Hi to Maryann with Murphy and John and Dwayne with Chewy! We love making new friends in the clubhouse!
AutoCamp Yosemite Review β Conclusion
AutoCamp Yosemite was fantastic – it rivals our favorites AutoCamp Cape Cod and AutoCamp Russian River. We can’t choose a favorite…each is so different and has its own strengths. For example, AutoCamp Cape Cod doesn’t have a pool, but you have distant ocean views, you’re near the ocean, and there is a fantastic bike path adjacent to the property. AutoCamp Russian River is just charming and old school. AutoCamp Yosemite is woods, surrounded by nature, spread out, yet high-end upscale. The staff is terrific: 100% hats off to Michael, Mitch, and Nina – all super helpful at the front desk. In another article, we’ll share some of their local restaurant and shopping suggestions.
So with that, we have now visited all 7 open AutoCamp locations. We have a whole bunch of articles coming up, including the video tour of both AutoCamp Sequoia and AutoCamp Yosemite, and a whole bunch more. Keep up with us in our newsletter and on social media!
