UpDate: Delays at AutoCamp zion
AutoCamp initially projected AutoCamp Zion to open “early 2023”. AutoCamp Zion will open May 1, 2023.
Why is this news? Because AutoCamp is missing their projected date on all 4 locations to be opened in 2023. Read about their hope to open 100 AutoCamp locations within 10 years but missing the mark on all 4 2023 properties.
AutoCamp Zion will be opening “mid-2023,” and we have a sneak peak of the location and what to expect.
AutoCamp Zion Location, Airstreams, X Suites
We don’t have a street address yet, but AutoCamp Zion will be located in Virgin, Utah on the Virgin River. The elevation is 3,606 feet – not shabby!
AutoCamp Zion will be situated on 16.60 acres, making it slightly larger than AutoCamp Cape Cod, but less dense with:
- 72 custom Airstreams
- 10 tents
- 9 X Suites
AutoCamp Zion will be an easy 20 minutes from Zion National Park. It will offer two outdoor event spaces, an all-season pool, views of the Gooseberry Mesa and beyond

Dog Sitting Issues
Just an aside: Zion is very dog UNfriendly. There is only one trail that dogs are allowed on! Also, the Virgin River has a toxic, lethal algae that can kill your dog. Buzz kill! AutoCamp does not allow you to leave pets (or children!) in their Airstreams, X Suites, or tents. You can’t blame them…it could be fatal if the air conditioning (or heat) were to go out. SO…you’re going to Zion on a cross country road trip. You want to hike, take the shuttle to see the park…what are we dog lovers/travelers to do? The closest dog boarding/day care seems to be closed. I’ll try Rover.com as we get closer. Or…we tag team. One of us stays “home” with pup while the other one goes on the shuttle, etc. We’ll have to see how this plays out, and we’ll report back.
