Best Rates for AutoCamp: Booking Experiences Vary
How do you find the best rates for AutoCamp? We’re going to show you how to shop for the best rates, the best discount codes and coupon codes, and how to use a cash back browser add-on to get the best AutoCamp rate possible.
Recently, we were pricing out an AutoCamp stay in three different ways: on AutoCamp.com, on Booking.com, and through Hilton.com. The information presented on each site, in addition to the prices, varied greatly.
We used AutoCamp Catskills as our test, using the dates Mon, May 12 – Thu, May 15, 2025 (3 nights) as our test dates. Here is what we found on the three sites.

Best Rates for AutoCamp: AutoCamp.com
First, we priced out the booking right on AutoCamp.com.
WOW, that’s a lot of options! You can click any one to blow it up, but we ended up picking the second – Airstream Suite, Web Rate. for “$891 for 3 nights including all fees.”
After clicking on Book Now, the rate breakdown and total were:
Maybe the taxes weren’t part of “all fees”? If so, we’d deduct the $93.24 from $983.64. Yup, That’s $890.4, so NOTE that the first screen does not include state taxes Interestingly, we’re not see the local tax- Ulster County – on here, but they are clearly included in the “NY State Taxes” because that $93.24 is 12% of the $777.
Bottom line: $983.64 to purchase directly through AutoCamp.com.
Best Rates for AutoCamp: Booking.com
The Booking.com experience is frustrating. They use their own names for each room type, not the terms used by AutoCamp.
The only way to figure out which is what is to click on the room title that takes you to info, and then look at the pictures! For example, the “Villa,” but it’s the traditional cabin – not the X Suite that is now also called a cabin.
So, we picked Queen Room. Now note: there is a $699 rate and a $777 rate. What’s the difference? It seems the $777 rate does not include the “free continental breakfast” that is always offered to everyone at AutoCamp (it’s a locally made granola and beverages, and it’s always good, but that’s it…granola and coffee, tea, and hot chocolate). That’s ODD! So, we picked the lower rate.
Notice they clearly state the $35 per night resort fee and the 12% tax is not included. Here’s the total, including all:
Best Rates for AutoCamp: Hilton.com
Note: As we’ve heard, Hilton Honors members can now book AutoCamp properties directly through Hilton as well as earn and redeem points. However, they cannot use Hilton gift cards at AutoCamp locations.
Hilton.com shows many options.
The description between the Classic, Premium, and Vista Airstreams does not explain what the difference is. The Explorer Airstream does (it includes a re-usable water bottle that used to be free, a foam roller, and an AllTrails+ membership, which is a decent deal).
We’re going to select the “Airstream Suite,” that is the second option on the first image, and click “More rates from $240” to see what we find, but first note this important point regarding the Daily Mandatory Charge:
As you can see, below, if you’re a Hilton Honors member, you save $5 on either rate. It’s free to join.
For both rates, the “Price includes fees, but excludes tax.”
We selected the $240 Honors discount.
We’ll break down the details, and sure enough, the Fees are included and the taxes are not:
The fees should be $35/night x 3 nights = $105 x NY State Sales tax of 4% + Ulster County Sales Tax of 4% comes to exactly $113.40. We’re not quite sure what the “Total Taxes” are since NY State Sales tax of 4% + Ulster County Sales Tax of 4% totals 8%, but this $73.11 on $609.18 comes to over 12%.
Best Rates for AutoCamp: Where You Book Matters!
As you can see, the before discount prices were:
- AutoCamp.com: $983.64
- Booking.com: $783.22
- Hilton.com: $795.69
Of course, with the 20% Adventure2024 discount, the AutoCamp.com rate could be as low as $269 – 20% + $35 amenity fee + 12% taxes x 3 nights = $840.67. Hmmm, that’s still significantly higher than booking on the other sites.
Bottom line: CHECK ALL THE SITES.
Best Rates for AutoCamp: Pro Tips!
PRO TIP 1: Bottom line: CHECK ALL THE SITES.
PRO TIP 2: Do it in INCOGNITO or PRIVATE browsing. When I went back in to the AutoCamp site and the rates refreshed, they jumped up very significantly!
PRO TIP 3: Rakuten! Rakuten routinely offers at least 2% off Booking.com reservations. I’ve earned as much as 12% off at times. This is big! Go to Rakuten to learn how it works, but not before you read…
PRO TIP 4: Screenshot EVERYTHING on Rakuten. Unfortunately, Rakuten often will not pay you for Booking.com. I’ve had to file forms for missing cash back. They then give me a giant run around, including:
- Booking.com doesn’t pay out for 3 months after the booking
- They will then approach Booking.com about the missing payment, and that can take 45 business days.
- Screenshots that show Rakuten is activated – and at what percent – in addition to the booking number on the same screen, give you all the ammo you need to put their feet to the fire and get your money back!
Is it worth all the work? YUP. I had a $2800 booking at 8%. That’s $224 they owe me, and I will not let it go. Don’t you, either! As you can see, you can get a nice chunk back on an AutoCamp trip!
